Robotic Welding Line for Open Freight Wagon Hatches

The robotic welding line is designed for the automated welding of open freight wagon hatch components, providing high positioning accuracy and consistent weld quality.

The solution is intended for railway vehicle manufacturers and railcar maintenance facilities seeking to significantly increase welding productivity, ensure process repeatability, and minimize the impact of human factors in serial production.

Welding operations are performed using a specially designed pneumatic-mechanical fixture, which provides precise positioning of components and maintains dimensional stability throughout the welding process.
Components are loaded directly into the fixture without prior assembly, significantly reducing overall manufacturing time and eliminating the need for a separate pre-assembly station.
The system is equipped with a laser seam-tracking sensor that rapidly and accurately detects weld joint locations and automatically adjusts the robot's welding path in real time.

Key Benefits

  • High weld positioning accuracy through laser seam-tracking technology;
  • Consistent weld quality;
  • Specialized pneumatic-mechanical fixturing;
  • Significant increase in productivity;
  • Reduced influence of human factors.

Implementation Results
The implementation of the robotic line significantly increases hatch production capacity, improves product quality consistency, and reduces labor requirements for welding operations.
The robotic technology delivers a substantial productivity gain: a single robotic system is capable of producing up to 40 wagon hatches per shift, whereas a highly skilled manual welder typically produces approximately 9 units during the same period.
